About the IAPP

Dr. Davide Borelli is an international technology and data counsel with over a decade of experience spanning elite private practice, Big Tech, and life sciences in-house roles. He is Counsel at Freshfields LLP, where he launched and leads the Italian data and technology practice, advising global platforms and multinationals on EU digital regulation – including the AI Act, GDPR, DMA/DSA, and NIS2/DORA – across advisory, investigations, and disputes.

He has led multi-jurisdiction strategies before the European Commission, national DPAs, and courts on matters ranging from data-protection class actions and regulatory proceedings to breach response, AI governance, and platform compliance. His prior roles include Associate General Counsel (EMEA privacy) at a major technology company and Global CPO in life sciences, combining product counselling with programme build, cybersecurity, and operational transformation.

Davide is a regular speaker at international conferences, including the IAPP Data Protection Congress in Brussels (2024 & 2025), and co-author of "AI Governance: Applying the New EU Regulation." He is recognised for pragmatic, business-first advice that translates complex regulation into outcomes for innovation-driven businesses.
