Jhin Chiu is a senior regulatory specialist at Telstra, where she is the company’s principal privacy counsel. With over 15 years of experience in privacy and data protection law, she has worked in legal roles both in private practice and in-house in Australia and London.

Before joining Telstra, Jhin was a Legal Manager at British Telecommunications Plc, where she first developed her interest in the telecommunications sector.  During her time at Telstra, she has held a variety of legal and cross-functional roles including a period as Assistant Company Secretary and, more recently, Chief Privacy Officer. As telecommunications companies increasingly use AI and advanced analytics to improve their networks, customer experiences, and operations, Jhin brings practical experience in balancing innovation with privacy protection. Jhin holds a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Economics from Monash University, a Master of Laws from the University of Melbourne, and is certified as a CIPP/E (Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe).

When she’s not working, Jhin enjoys spending time with her family and friends, painting, and traveling. She is also a committed Western Bulldogs supporter.
